Harry Tieken designed sea kayaks of the 1990s in rugged polyethlene.
These generous volume touring kayaks provide stable manners, large inside dimensions, and generous footroom that is hard to find in many contemporary kayaks. There are few kayaks actually designed for the full figured guy or his big shoes, and these kayaks have found a favorite niche in our shop as a result.
Both the Sealution XS (extra small), and the XL (extra large) are generous on width and cockpit volume to carry paddlers from 180 to 300 lb. depending on body shape and proportion.
The 16' 9" Sealution II is the shape that is based on the classic Sealution composite kayak, and provides a winning combination of tame handling, moderate beam, and fast water line. Sized for paddlers up to about 200 lb with athletic build.
We love these boats for rental programs - anybody can show up and fit them. And for toughness, I have not seen kayaks that match this production period (original Wilderness Systems made boats) of thick hulled long wearing kayaks.
We bought a bunch when the company was phasing them out - still have a number of factory fresh absolutely unmarked boats to select from.
